RM 620 Safety Improvements

Cornerwood to Wyoming Springs

The RM 620 project is approximately two miles in length and includes safety improvements. The existing roadway will be widened to a four-lane roadway with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 14-foot shoulders with curb and gutter, and a raised center median. The first phase of work will include construction of new pavement south of the existing roadway. The two projects have been coordinated to ensure that O’Connor will seamlessly connect with RM 620.  For further details, see the FAQ and Fact Sheet linked in the left column of this page.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday, January 28, 2013.  Williamson County’s contractor is C F Jordan. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Smyers Lane and RM 620.

The RM 620 Safety Improvements have been completed, including the final striping. The roadway was widened to a four-lane roadway with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, a raised center median, and 14-foot shoulders with curb and gutter. The shoulders were created so that they could be made into traffic lanes for vehicles at some point in the future; however, they are not to be used as turn lanes. Designated turn lanes already exist, and drivers using the shoulders as turn lanes confuse the drivers who are in the actual turn lanes. Please obey the striping and do not drive in lanes with diagonal stripes across them indicating that they are the shoulders. Thank you for your continued cooperation in making RM 620 a safer roadway.
