Williamson County Commissioners Court approved funding this week for a new roadway named King of Kings Crossing to connect Smyers Lane to the northeast edge of the HEB parking lot, which is located at O’Connor Drive and RR 620.  The project will increase safety and mobility in that area by providing access to Smyers Lane and Wyoming Springs Drive.  The new roadway will provide an alternate route into the adjacent neighborhoods that avoids O’Connor Drive, and it will allow drivers accessing RR 620 to make a safer left turn at the signalized intersection of Wyoming Springs and RR 620.  Right of way acquisition is nearing completion.  Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring and be completed in two months.  The project is funded with safety monies from the Williamson County Road Bond Program approved by county voters in 2006.

Commissioner Lisa Birkman, who represents the area on the commissioners court, said, “This important safety improvement was requested by the residents at a series of public meetings we have hosted.  We are pleased that we can add this project to the other roadway improvements in the area such as the O’Connor Drive extension which is underway, and the RR 620 improvements, which we plan to begin to construct next year. “
