Valerie Covey was elected to represent Williamson County Precinct Three on the Williamson County Commissioner’s Court in November 2006 and was reelected in 2008. Commissioner Covey has established herself as a leader in the county who has the courage to stand up for her beliefs and for precinct three.
Commissioner Covey serves the county by participating on various boards and committees, including: the Williamson County Mental Health Committee, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Board, the Williamson County Conservation Foundation, the Williamson County Audit Committee, and the Williamson County Investment Committee. She was also appointed to serve on the Local Authority Network Advisory Committee (LANAC), a statewide committee that advises the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on technical and administrative issues that directly affect local mental health authority responsibilities. Commissioner Covey is an active member of the Williamson County Republican Party, Georgetown Area Republican Women, The Republican Club of Sun City, Williamson County Republican Women, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, and First Baptist Church of Georgetown.
Commissioner Covey was born and raised in Pleasanton, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a degree in accounting and has been licensed as a certified public accountant for more than 20 years. She and her husband of over 25 years, Mark Covey, have lived in Georgetown 16 years, and are blessed with three boys: Matthew, a junior in college; Zachary, a senior in high school; and Joshua, an 8th grader.
