Hairy Man Road Safety Improvements

Location Hairy Man Road from Arrowhead Trail to Sam Bass.
Description This project is 3.77 miles in length and includes safety improvements along 3.4 miles of the corridor between Brushy Bend Drive and Sam Bass Road. Improvements will include the addition of shoulders along the roadway, addition of rumble striping along the center and along the shoulders, and addition of turn lanes into the adjacent parks. 

Design is underway by Atkins. Right of entry letter requests have been sent out to adjacent property owners. Data collection for environmental due diligence is underway. Survey and geotechnical investigation work also is ongoing. 

An open house was held June 22, 2016, at the Brushy Creek Community Center to discuss two alternatives on how to solve safety and mobility issues at the Great Oaks bridge over Brushy Creek as well as proposed safety improvements along Brushy Creek Road/Hairy Man Road. Another open house was held on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the Fern Bluff MUD Community Center.
