The new southbound lanes of FM 1460 in Williamson County are set to fully open Thursday morning, Oct. 11, weather permitting. This will change the way motorists currently drive on FM 1460 between Quail Valley Drive and University Boulevard. Crews will finish striping on Wednesday night and southbound traffic will be redirected from its temporary configuration to the newly paved mainlanes, with all intersections fully opening by Thursday morning at 5 a.m. Northbound FM 1460 traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane while crews pave the inside lanes and turn lanes. In the coming weeks, when all northbound lanes are repaved, the highway will open in its final configuration. The $21 million project will convert approximately 3.5 miles of the existing two-lane roadway to a five-lane roadway from Quail Valley drive to SE Inner Loop and a four-lane divided highway from SE Inner Loop to University Boulevard. Once complete, this project will enhance safety and reduce congestion for motorists traveling through the area.
