Southwest Bypass

Location The Southwest Bypass is a new roadway from IH-35 to RM 2243.
Description The City of Georgetown is planning a multi-lane, arterial roadway on new location. This project will be divided up into multiple phases that will be designed and constructed separately.
Status

Access Route of the Southwest Bypass project is the construction of a temporary access road into the quarry bottom to faciliate access for the construction of Segment 1 and survey and environmental assessment for Segment 2. Construction started on June 1, 201 and was completed on July 7, 2017.

Segment 1 of the Southwest Bypass project is the construction of a new two lane roadway from IH-35 to 3,100 feet west.  Design is complete and 46 bids were received on June 27, 2017. Construction is anticipated to start in August of 2017 and take a year to complete.  

Segment 2 is the construction of a new two lane roadway from RM 2243 to 3,500 feet east (Segment 1).  This will complete the roadway from RM 2243 to IH-35. Segment 2 construction is anticipated to start after Segment 1 is complete and take approximately 21 months to complete.
